The law library does not have blank forms available. However, it has many publications which contain sample forms. Some of them, called general formbooks, are large, multi-volume, encyclopedic sets which include forms on many different topics. There are also formbooks devoted to specific topics, such as bankruptcy, real estate transactions, etc. There are formbooks devoted to specific states and specific courts, for example, federal courts. (A listing of formbooks for New Jersey is included in this guide). When using formbooks, it is important to be as up-to-date as possible, since forms will often be changed as laws or court rules change. Therefore, always check for recent supplements or pocket-parts. The listings below are of some of the more well-known publications. They are by no means the only formbooks in the library. This guide will give suggestions on how to find more formbooks using the library's computer catalog. It also contains a sampling of Internet sites for forms. Forms themselves are often divided into two basic types: 1) "standard" forms used to carry out specific legal transactions between parties, such as wills, contracts, leases, etc., and 2) pleading and practice forms, which are documents submitted to the court as part of a legal proceeding. These include complaints, answers, and counter-claims.

New Jersey Court Forms: Listed in section above.
The library has many more forms than the ones listed above. You may search for more by using
the computerized library catalogue. Some suggestions for doing this:
Select Subject as your search category. Now type "forms." You will see a listing of hundreds
of categories such as:
Forms--Actions and Defenses--United States
Forms--Bankruptcy--United States
Forms--Interrogatories--United States
Although it may be cumbersome to scroll through these, the listing does give an idea of the wide variety of sample forms that the library contains. Another way to search is to select Keyword as your search category. Type in, for example, wills jersey forms and titles that contain those words will come up. Remember that it is important to be aware of whether or not the material is current. If it has not been updated for a while, you might look for an item that is more recent.
